It is a nice course. I used to play it a lot. But someone has to spill the beans. The course is covered with geese and the accompanying goose crap. It is everywhere. I'm surprised that the county health department hasn't closed it down. The 10th fairway is almost a carpet of poop. I feel bad for the folks who run the course as they keep it up the best they can but what can you do with thousands of geese. You should have seen the course before the geese took over. It was really nice.

Folks in the pro shop have always been helpful and courteous. I usually walk on as a single and they are a big help.

Nice links style layout. Most fairways have a little bend to them to make it interesting. Greens are well protected by bunkers.

Wind can be a factor, especially on the two par 3"s over water!!! A bit costly compared to local muni's.

Probably consider this one of my HOME courses. Slightly more expensive than other muni courses around (why I don't play more). I like the links style of layout. Not many trees, but a fair amount of slight doglegs. Greens are not especially difficult to read, and are a bit inconsistant in speed. Course is always in very good condition, but beware of the afternoon winds...but that is just part of the course(if you don't like the wind, don't play by the bay).

course is located along an estuary extending into San Francisco Bay. When the tide is low and the wind dies down, the stench of bird poop and algae can be nasty. However, unpleasant conditions don't last long because the area is generally fairly windy.

Course is fairly flat and expansive, with fairly wide fairways. In the summer the wind and fog blowing off the Pacific Ocean over SF Bay make it chilly and challenging. Shoreline is where I learned to play golf, and it has a lot going for it. However, the greens are among the most challenging I have encountered on a muni course, with lots of undulations. Practice your short game before playing, otherwise it'll probably be a long, frustrating day.

Very good, very responsive. Pro shop is small, which means that staff often stacks merchandise outside shop all day.

Course is a very good challenge. I played the blue tees which presented a nice challenge. There is another set of tees farther back which I would like to try the next time.

First off, you should pay for the entertainment you receive in the Pro Shop! The guys who work in the Pro Shop are top shelf! (Thank you Bill and Neil!) If there is an award for "Most Improved Course in the Bay Area" this course wins hands down! The course is in incredible shape and from what they say, this is only the beginning!

Requires you to think. Yes, you can go out and try to bomb it, but some holes aren't too receptive to the long ball. 10-17 kind of lull you to sleep with wide driving areas. Then you come back across the street to 18 and it has OB on the left and OB on the right, with two traps about 20 yards apart in the driving area. If you lay up, you are 200 out to an uphill green with OB on near right.

The course has this robot thing called an Intelcaddie! The gentleman I was playing with was using it. It made a heck of alot of noise, would be moving while we were putting, and on a number of occasions, he had to go back and pull the thing! I think the course would be better off without this contraption! It was really distracting and the guy who paid for it wasn't having a good time with it either!

The course definitely has a problem with birds! Mudhens and geese really muck up the place!

Some greens are way too undulated!! (Apparently this is due to the landfill below sinking) Renovation is supposed to fix most of them.

This course is a fun course to play. If the wind is up, it is extremely challenging! Par 3's seem to be directly into the wind! 11 and 17 are Par 3's over the water into a (seemingly constant) 20 mph breeze!

Renovation of the front 9 is due in August 2000. Back nine had some renovation from what I was told.

A nice test of golf for a fair price.

Other than a pro named Neal, the ProShop staff wouldn't know a smile if it landed on their faces (which it never did!) Neal was quite pleasant and made up for his poker-faced buddies.

The wide fairways allow for some mis-hits and the breeze off the bay can "let the big dog to run"to shorten several holes and give you birdie chances. Course is in top condition. Scoring here not very difficult.Good mixture or sand and water hazrds to keep you on your toes.

Painfully slow with no marshall in sight during our round--5 hrs. on a Monday afternoon is absurd. Could see open holes ahead of the 2 groups in front of us but the calvary never came. Bird do-do only on a few greens but really thick on some fairways.

Shoreline is an outstanding public course that can give any level of golfer a good skills check.It is in great shape with very lush fairways and greens to match,(although on the very slow side...I call it putting on Grandma's carpet) Water comes into play on 7 holes and sand traps take care of the rest.Few trees scattered throughout the course but not a factor. Par 3's not tough but guarded by water(2) and sand (2) make for right club selection. The par 5's are reachable in 2 (with the wind) but #18 is a tough finishing hole.Greens have a slope to them so lagging skills is a must.
If you've ever wanted to see lots of birds, waterfowl, and their poop,this is the place for you. Pace of play was horrendous ...NO MARSHALL...EVER!!I was walking and had to wait 3-4 minutes on each shot. I thought the 3 Stooges were dead but they were in front of our group when we played.
