A great test of golf, not killer long but you must be accurate to keep the ball in play. Frequent elevation changes make club selection a challenge. Perfect conditions.

this course is always in excellent shape, greens, fairways and everything is so well taken care of. GREENS ARE A HUGE CHALLENGE, really fast and undulating. Good luck not three putting more than once. Five excellent finishing holes ending with a huge 600 yard par 5 from an elevated tee. Very challenging course i think the rating is 75 or something close to that. very tough, good luck im a 2 handicap and i shot 76 from the tips so good luck to anyone else.

Best course in San Diego. Very well maintained with excellent staff. Course is supposed to be private within a few years, so play it now. Greens are good, perhaps a little too tricked up. Tees, fairways, bunkers are in outstanding shape year round. Better golfers should tee it up all the way back since the course plays much shorter than the yardage indicates. Average golfers will lose lots of balls since there are several canyons and forced carries.

Range is excellent. Golf shop is OK, will be better when they complete the clubhouse in early 2002. Chili pepper wrap sandwiches are great at the snack shack!

Shoot in the 70s

Played course for the first time October 4, 2000; all I can say is WOW!!!! Unbelievable course, situated in foothills above Rancho Bernardo, operated by Troon Golf, so service is impeccable. I can't say enough about the course, probably the toughest track I have played. Course immaculate, greens perfect, layout inspiring. Par 5 eighth hole will test any golfer; narrow chute off tee, OB and trees left, large tree and lake to right; to have a clear second shot requires Tiger teeball! Holes 14-18 are the toughest closing holes I have ever seen. Par-5 14th is uphill 500+yds; 2 great shots leave you with mid-short iron to small green, shallow and sloping back to front, guarded by DEEP canyon in front of green. 15th hole par-3 can induce terror- 253 yds from elevated back tee to green below, deep ravine entire left side of hole. Par-4 16th hole (453 yds from tips) another frightful experience; elevated tee, fairway goes downhill, dog-right, slopes hard right-to-left into ravine, which crosses in front of green to grab short approach shots. 17th hole gives a par-3 respite, followed by incredible 18th hole. Once you find the tee (have to climb up hill from cartpath), you see a tree and bunker-lined massive 600 yd par 5 (200+yd carry over barranca gully) that triggers an urge to find a port-a-potty.

Customer Service

Set up group of golfers ahead of time, had excellent communication with their director Leslie Cholcoles, everything went off without a hitch.
