Oak Quarry Golf Course - Golf courses, Riverside, Ca

DESCRIPTION

Oak Quarry Golf Club opened to rave reviews in 2000. The golf course—crafted by the team of Champions Tour star Dr. Gil Morgan and Schmidt-Curley Design—winds through the historic Jensen Quarry, which in its operating heyday supplied limestone, marble and 88 various minerals for the construction of roads, large buildings and private residences in the greater Los Angeles area.

With four sets of tees, the golf course at Oak Quarry provides a challenging test for golfers of all skill levels. The course measures 5,408 yards from the forward tees; 6,028 yards from the regular tees; 6,600 yards from the championship tees and 7,002 yards from the tournament tees. The club features a full practice facility with grass-station driving range, putting greens and chipping and bunker practice green.

Oak Quarry is one of the most highly rated golf courses in Southern California. Tee It Up magazine, published by the Riverside Press-Enterprise, named Oak Quarry the number one golf course in Inland Southern California, and recognized the 14th hole as both the prettiest and toughest par three in the region. OC Golf magazine named the 14th hole as the best par three in Southern California.

Shoots in the 80s

Played Oak Quarry for the first time in about four years. The Quarry has always been one of the better courses in the I.E. although I wasn't quit sure what it would be like during a recession but was surprised to find what great shape it was in. For a Wednesday morning the place was empty though, with only a handful of golfers on the course, which explains why we got through the place in just over three hours. The fairways were perfect, even too perfect with some areas that had been over watered and were muddy, but not a big deal. Plenty of room to get out the driver on just about all the holes although many of the fairway bunkers do come into play. Greens and bunkers were also in great shape. If you've never played this place, it's really a work of art, especially once you get into the hart of the course around some of the cut rock canyons. If you play here, make sure you get out early; the winds in this area can be a huge factor and blows hard in the afternoon. My regular group plans on putting the Quarry back into our regular rotation. Info only, you can save a buck or two by search for on line tee times.

Shoots in the 90s

I just played this course on Saturday, October 25th for the first time and loved it. This is one of the most scenic courses in the southern california area. With elevation changes on pretty much every hole, it is fun but not to challenging. The greens were in great condition but a little slow. I will definitely be going back soon. Over and over.
