Shoots in the 80s

Played twilight rate for $80 and course was well worth it. Mountain type course with a lot of undulation in the fairways. Had to pick your spot for drives as ball followed landscape and had various bounces. From the next to last tees (Gold; slope 130 or so), some drives require 200 or so yards to carry gorges. Course winds its way through different elevations. Holes were varied, some par 4s being short and some long. Greens were flat and in good condition and ball rolled true. Course was in very good condition overall. This reminded me of mountain courses I play in Arizona.

A magnificent course designed by Tom Fazio. Every hole makes you stop and think. Lots of risk reward shots and many ways to play from just off the green.

The Meadows Del Mar course is a relatively new, upscale course just south of the old Del Mar racetrack, on the inland side of I-%, heading toward San Diego (15 min further south). It is definitely upscale, a beautiful Tom Fazio course, situated in the valleys below the hills around Del Mar. While having no ocean views, it has the great coastal climate. The course is immaculate, service superb; the staff is very helpful and caters to corporate outings on a regular basis. While pricey, it is a much better value than Torrey Pines, and certainly easier to get on. While not unduly long, it places emphasis on tee ball location; greens are large and beautiful, a joy to putt. The clubhouse is almost a work of art, reminding one of a Frank Lloyd Wright creation. Most definitely a "must play" while in San Diego.

Great staff; Herb Moore, director of golf, one of greatest professionals I have ever met, always enjoy talking to him.
