Shoots in the 90s

This is a fun gem of a par 3 course tucked away in the the Golden Gate Park but near Ocean Beach. The price is definitely right here, especially for locals with the resident card. $10 bucks a round. I think the conditions are pretty decent but obviously not great. Fairways are ok, greens are very slow. Difficulty isn't there, but it makes for a nice little walk through the Cypress trees with the sound of the waves crashing in the distance. Best hole for me is probably the long 190+ yard 5th hole, although I think the 9th hole is more of a challenge. But lets face it, these are all pretty good little holes for practicing the short game.

Folks are always nice and so laid back. No attitude here.

Little semi range does the trick for warming up and putting green is just right and matches up well with the course greens

Shoot in the 90s

This course is a fairly challenging par 27 nine hole course. The tee boxes are a little thin on the grass. They have driving range types of mats at each tee yet no rubber tee. Very beautiful course. You can see the windmill from the 2nd/5th tee. The course is about 930 yards total. The course is a first come first served basis and one weekends the wait is about an hour. Still if you get there early you can cut the wait down dramatically.

They have a small putting green that has some contour to it and is a good example of the greens on the course. The greens play medium fast yet are kind of soft, especially during the winter. In general there are a lot of muddy places during the winter and can still be muddy in places during the summer.

The first hole at about 170 yards starts uphill to the green. Golden gate park is on the left so there are a lot of pine trees. On your right is a hill that also divides the first and fifth fairways.

Exit the green to the right and up the hill to the second tee. The second hole is 113 yards downhill. There are trees to the left and trees on the right. The fairway slopes from left to right. To the left in front of the green is a big tree that overhangs the front left portion of the green. To the right and in front of the green is a sand trap.

The third tee is behind the second green and is about 160 yards straight down the left from the second green. The fairway has eucalyptus trees to the right and more trees on the left. It stays relativly flat up to about 80 yards from the green and a valley drains to the right up until it rises again for the green. If you slice, you might be looking for your ball for a while among the bark and weeds.

The fourth tee is to your left from the third green and heads back and uphill to the second tee and the fifth tee. It is about 130 yards with a small hill protruding from the right just in front of the green. The hill rising to the second tee provides the back of the hole.

The fifth tee is up the hill and to the right from the fourth green. It is 193 yards. At about 90 yards is the ridge of the hill that divides the fifth fairway and the first fairway. It slopes from right to left. There are some trees at the top of that hill that come into play if you slice. Also all along the right side all the way to the green are trees and if you are short and to the right, you can have a challenging shot getting out from under the trees. There is a sand trap behind the green. Be carefull you don't hit long as the club house is only a few yards past the sand trap.

The sixth hole is to the left of the fifth green. It is 165 yards uphill towards the fifth tee. The green is about six feet above the fairway. There is a sand trap to the right in front of the green. Don't hit long as you will be in the bushes and trees behind the green. If you slice, you will be hitting from a stand of pine trees.

The seventh tee is up the hill and to the right of the sixth green. The hole is 138 yards. The tee is elevated and has a second tier going down the valley to about 30 yards before the green. There is a sand trap right in front of the green. Trees to the left and a stand of pines to the right. The green is fairly small and the eighth tee is behind and about three feet above the green. If you go for the green, make sure you have lots of loft or some back spin. You can go for right or left, however the left is kind of narrow and you will be chipping or putting downhill to the cup. If you go right, you are hitting up a hill to the green.

The eighth hole is 110 yards and the tee is elevated. There is a sand trap to the right in front of the green. The sixth fairway is behind the green and the ninth fairway to the left.

The ninth hole is 170 yards and is back and to the left from the eighth green. The fairway for the first 100 yards has a rise on the right and the ridge of it goes right down the middle of the fairway. Tons of trees and brush to the left. There are two sand traps left and right in front of the green. There is only about 10 feet between the traps up to the green. The back of the green is downhill to the parking lot so don't hit long. The right side of the green goes uphill to the club house.
