I thought this course was going to have a beautiful layout, it doesn't. It's o.k. looks like all other municipal courses. I don't know how they advertise themselves as one of the best courses in O.C., the course is tight with the main value for those looking for elevated tee shots and hilly fairways. This course makes your work for your shot, if you hit the ball badly then you'll be trudging up steep slopes and hills. It's a lot of going up and down and blind greens at times. Though the other reviewer didn't like this course, I thought it was pretty challenging with the different elevations, it's not a flat course at all and you will be using all your irons in this course.

Not long enough of a track to feel like you are playing legit golf.

Wow! What a strange course, and I'm not sure if I mean that in a good way. You know those large cement basins you see for manmade rivers during the rainy season? Well imagine taking a stretch of one filling it with grass and making a course play in and out of it. Then you'll have Riverview Golf in Santa Ana. I decided to play there after seeing their dumb but memorable ads on cable. It's a really short track, only 6202 yards from the tips. 34 on the Front. 36 on the back for a par 70. The course basically consists of 3 things, long par 3's, short par 4's and medium length par 5's. 80% of the holes having you either teeing off from an elevated tee or shooting into an elevated green on one side of the basin--or both. It's a somewhat comical layout and I found myself almost laughing outload because it seems more like a video game layout then anything realistic. While I'm not sure if I'll play this course regularly, if you live in the area you should check it out just for kicks. I shot a 79, the first time I've ever broken 80. But I for some reason don't feel it was legit, so that should tell you something about the course. Just felt like a cheap 79.
