A total dog track. Too bad that Pete Dye's name is affiliated. I expected much, much more, but they clearly haven't spent anything to maintain this course. Fairways were weeded and burned out. Greens OK. Bunkers not maintained. It probably used to be a nice course.

a little dry kinda flat somewhat boring i was disappointed because its reputation was phenomenal. i expected a whole lot more. to be fair we drove 80 miles to play it so our expectations were unreasonably high. tat said i won't make the drive again.

Never played a Pete Dye design before. I was told it was remodled recently. It still has Pete's touch with RR ties, waste bunkers, lots of pots, H2O with rolling fairways and all greens with steep slope and spines in them. I played 4 rounds (three in tournament match play) It is challanging and the greens are fast. 18 is a tough hole and it should be. The course was firm with many trees on the back 9.

The resort buildings need updating and the sleeping quarters are so so and you can hear water running and foot steps through the walls and floor. Staff was good. My wife got food borne gasteroenteritis after the special Halibut. The bar has young melleniums singing Kareoke and hooking up on Saturday night.

I liked the course. It felt like I took a time warp to the 70s. It would look really nice if they watered it a little more. Bad for me, I played there when I had a very bad hook. It's important to be accurate!

I''ve played this course a few times since it was re-designed, and everytime I play it I can''t help but think how they really screwed up a great golf course. The original design was so much better than what they spent their money on, in fact it was good enough to hold the NCAA Championships on it back in 1974 when Curtis Strange won the individual with an eagle on the final hole. On any given day when the pro''s were home and off tour yo would find them out at the course playing together and making a few small wagers. Among those pro''s were Lon Hinkle, Craig Stadler, Bill Brask, Tom Nettles and others. The new course is typical of so many courses now, with gimicky holes and sometimes unfair holes. That is not to say that there still aren''t some good holes on the course, there just aren''t as many as there used to be.

Pretty nice course all in all. I felt it was pretty challenging. Course is kept in good shape. Water hazards are well placed to make it challenging. Friendly staff!

Despite the previous 2 opinions I believe this to be one of the best courses in San Diego.

This course is extemely demanding from the tips which should only be played if you are a low single digit handicap. The regular mens tees are still quite demanding. The par 4 18th is always a gut check with a long iron approach shot coming in over water to a 2 tiered green. This hole could destroy a good round if you are not careful. Though some holes are lengthy the difficulty of the course stems from the layout, hazards and wind that almost always blows in the afternoon through this valley. Play it early in the day if you can. Emphasis on this course should definately be on keeping the ball in play....fairways and greens.

The six rounds I have played at the course over 3 years have always found it to be in good condition throughout. The course is walkable with no real elevation changes.

Many mini-tour and collegiate events are played at this course because of its reputation as a good condition, strong layout and challenging test. Phil Mickelson spent many of his early days honing his skills on this tract.

We Played this course 3/2000. The greens and fairways were in great shape. The rest of the course left something to be desired. The ruff was like hitting out of a cow pasture, the grass was sparse and grew in clumps. The design looked to unfinished and was not very pleasing to the eye. The staff was courtious and play was at a good pace. The housing around the course was run down and didn't help with the general look of the course.
