This is a very nice muni course, of an older design. It is set in farm fields with NO houses and easy to walk. :) Nice looking course. Mostly open golf. Greens are bermuda grass, hilly and have a lot of break but are fair. Greens are also in good condition. General conditions are above average for a muni course. Fairways are a bit rough. Nice tee boxes. Has a little bit of water. Good for all levels of player. Cost $28 for non-resident and $25 for resident. Played 3-2-07.

Both sides of the nines have back-to-back par fives and the par threes are not little pitch-and-putts. The course is in good condition for a city owned facility. The tee time reservation system makes getting tee times easier than most (if you don't like talking to hurried or grumpy golf shop attendants).

There is no driving range at the facility. The afternoon winds can play havoc with most tee shots as they get airborne. There is no real change of elevations on the course, and some of the tightness causes tee boxes to be close to fairways and greens which makes you prone to errant shots.

As one of the 2 City of Ventura golf courses, Buenaventura is just like a walk in the park that has some holes with narrow fairways and lots of holes with wide open allowing the inexperience to spray balls liberally. The winter rains have "greened" the fairways, and the general course maintenence seems to be up to standard. Greens had good speed and normal break for municipal courses.

Pro shop and snack bar have good selections and friendly staff. The sale on golf shoes was taken advantage by my partner. Snack shop prepares most food to order and a well stocked bar.

Kinda boring, not much challenge.

This is a decent, but unspectacular course. Very flat, and you get what you see. From each tee you can see the green ahead of you, and although you can get into trouble if you spray the tee ball, most of the holes are short enough to club down.

Tees, fairways and greens are all in very good condition, and the service is pleasant.

I would play this course frequently if I lived nearby, but a hour's drive is too much for what this course offers.
