Shoots in the 90s

While it's been some years since I played this course, I did see it again in June 2005 and it's still as beautiful as ever. The fairways and greens seemed to be in good shape, and the setting is spectacular. From an aesthetic point of view, golf doesn't get much better than Colorado. Only downside is price: Like everthing else in Vail, this course is not cheap.

Shoots in the 80s

Very nice course. I have not played a lot of expensive courses - so i couldnt tell you compared to pebble beach or pineherst no. 2. I played the course only 2 weeks after it opened for the season, so i cant say what it is like at the peak of the season. In late may, the fairways were quite nice but the greens had some growing to do. The fairways were pretty wide, and there were only a few holes where you couldnt pull driver and hit straight ahead. Not many dog-legs. The course is fairly straight forward - just check the yardage and hit. Some sand, but not too much. The scenery is GORGEOUS! Aspens and evergreens everywhere - the course is right at the base of the mountains. There is a fair amount of water - a stream that runs through the course several times, and a couple small ponds. If you can hit straight, the course would be pretty easy. I guess that is the case for most courses, but there is very little need to shape shots or carry obstacles. I played blacks - 7000 yrds but the course rating is still only 70.8 - shows you how easy it is. Rough was short, but THICK. i came up short several times before i started to compensate. Most greens were fairly large, but didnt held well at all. It was probably because the season was so young. Even though they didnt hold, they rolled very true. I made several fairly long putts - and i never make putts.

Customer Service

excellent - people who worked there were very nice
