Shoots in the 80s

Okay, I'm just getting back to playing after a 3 year lay off - shoot mid 80's, and have been playing Black / Red courses this fall - so no idea what summer traffic is like there.

But overall, these are very playable muni tracks. The Black course is a bit more challenging - blind shots, steep elevation changes.

The Red course is pretty much right there in front of you - lots of 390'ish par fours.

The bunkers are in excellent shape - very consistent sand depth. And for a local course, the greens are in good shape and run true.

For $35 with a cart, you could do much worse. Obviously, this isn't going to seriously challenge a low handicapper - but for anyone 12+, these are enjoyable courses, super reasonable fees and in the later months (like now) you can basically play by yourself during the week.

This course has run it's course. The fairways on the Black Course are among the worst that you will find anywhere. While the greens are very good, it does not make up for the poor fairways and lack of grooming. All of the bunkers are also generally out of sand and are never groomed by the staff. To complete the awful experience, try interfacing with the miserable old hack in the proshop who is on loan from the DMV.

The course is in some serious need of maintenance and irrigation. If that course was in the shape of Tashua, it would be a country club.

I played the red course, which was in aweful shape this spring. It has been improved tremendously!! The greens are actually in very good shape, although the fairways are a mixed bag. Overall, I think it was a very good course for the $$$.

Customer Service

Easy in, easy out. It's not a hi-profile course, but rather low-key and easy to enjoy.

Black and Red courses generally take turns being poor. Extremely poor irrigation and low maintenance. Definitely a course for the "weekend warrior."

THis review is for the Black Course. By the end of the summer in 2001 the course was parched and most of the greens on the front nine were very thread-bare. The fairways were dry and brown and under repair. Hole #2 had a temporary green which was on the fairway. The front 9 have some sort of irrigation problem (lack of) however the back 9 do have sprinkers working and are in better shape. The 7th hole is very challenging as you must drive up a long tall hill. There are some water hazards and a few holes that have hidden greens (either up or down hill).

i don't know what course brad played but it wasn't "the wheel". this is a dump. like most things in bridgeport it has been allowed to fall into decay. if you want to play form bare patches in the fairway and dead greens then this is the place for you. what a waste of land.

After not playing "the wheel" for many years I was very surprised by the improvements in the course conditions.
