Shoots in the 90s

Played it for the first time yesterday. Beautiful old course, with lots of blind shots and hlls and mounds. Par 3 9th hole from an elevated tee to a hugh green that is shapped like a "u" is fun and difficult. Maintenance of course needs work. Course was not in best of conditions. Locker room, clubhouse etc, is sparse. If it were kept up better it would be spectacular.

Shoots in the 80s

This is a course with lots of history. A good lay out, lots of fun, but God, they better put some $$$ into maintenance. It could be far nicer with a good grounds crew. This course could be an "A" course as it was years ago. The signature hole, #9 is truly beautiful with the longest double-decker green I've ever seen!

Shoot in the 80s

Maintenance used to be a bit behind on this facility, but Ihaven't been to the course in ten years. Ilove the course and spent two summers working on it as a groundskeeper. I shot my first par on the par five 16th. Green and tee conditions were fine as I recall with the fairways less than pristine. But this course is in the Scottish style and should not be compared to some of the garden variety courses like Augusta and Chevy Chase. I think that maintenance has been a priority for the past five years.

This course is from the 1920's and was designed by C.B. Macdonald, one of the founders of the U.S.G.A. Seth Raynor had a considerable part in the construction. Many bunkers are deep enough so that one can't see the green while addressing the shot. There is an elevated green on a par three. Any miss and the ball will roll down the bank into a bunker which surrounds the entire green.

Customer Service

Thecourse is fairly business like but has an academic feel to it. It is a course whos membership is based on affiliation to Yale and not necessarily income. One can imagine how that might affect the atmosphere.Value ratings below based on affiliation with Yale.
