This used to be a great golf course, but it's been in "last resort" shape for over 10 years. I've lived two blocks from the place for 30 years and it's a terrible shame to see what people think is "well maintained". (This place has a "corner" on the local market right now.) Basically a 16 hole course for close to 2 years. The 17th and 18th greens were lost in 2006, rebuilt in 2007 but the job was botched on the cheap and they're still close to "restored". (BTW, the pro shop wouldn't warn players about that before they charged a full fee; you just walked up to those two greens and realized you has to take 2 putts and walk away.) Fairways are basically light rough and burn out to hardpan in early June through Sept. The lessee puts minimal money into maintenance and upkeep. You'll get cute flower beds and ornamental grasses, but terrible fairway and green surfaces. Can find much better conditions for same price range at several locations within a 20 minute drive. Endure this sad story only if you must. I pray every year the story will change and players will get a quality course they don't feel they're "settling" for.

Customer Service

The place has a long and storied history of "grumpy old men" behind the counter and in the starter's shed. Often act like they're "bothered" that you showed up. Ranger are STEALING MONEY for what little they say and do to the people who actually slow play. Anyone who's played here more than a few times has a "useless ranger" story.

I often play Three Little Bakers, Loch Nairn, Moccasin Run, all good value courses with very good conditions for public tracks (and within 20 minutes of Delcastle). I also spend a lot of time driving 30 and 40 miles to Wyncote and Pilgrim's Oak.

Model Reviewed: Delcastle Golf Course

A nicely maintained, inexpensive public course, nothing noteworthy about the course; it's in good shape. Gotta watch out for the old timers - we played in about 4 hours, but it's easy to get caught behind slow golfers here. Prepare to be patient.

Customer Service

Friendly barstaff (at 0800 in the morning). Starters were nice.

Great course to waste an afternoon on. I would not go out of my way to play it though. More often than not, a round here requires 5+ hours and a considerable wait after every shot. Adding insult to injury, you are not permitted to cool your heels with a cold one while you wait.

Customer Service

Good, the bar at the clubhouse is pretty well stocked and full of friendly service and the food is above average pub chow. The ranger needs to speak with the slow geezers before rounding the course every thirty minutes reminding everyone to hurry along.
