One of the best courses I ever played. I played well the 1st round ever and even broke 80. The rest of my group all struggled with the challenging course, but everyone said they'd love to come back and play it again. Look forward to playing it again soon.

Layout one of the best. Penalized if you do not keep the ball in play. Not tricked up intentionally by sand traps, bunker positions or green slopes. You can hold the green with the proper shot. The coarse is beautifully maintained. The greens are true and large.

To play this coarse and score well you need to play it several times. Lots of water which will penalize you if you hit it out of play. Penalties are usually a lostball in the water. Can be breezy.

I play 30+ rounds of golf yearly, 14 hdcp. Played Waterlefe for the first time Aug '04. Back tees (not the pro tees from the tips)Found each hole to be an adventure. Well designed but local knowledge a must. Not overly tight so a driver can be used spareingly but the trick is to keep the ball in play. Although,damaged by too much rain the layout is one of the best I have ever played and I play golf all over the east coast from Canada to Florida. One of my top 5 coarses ever played. It is a good buy if played in the off season. I will be back. I played above my handicap and was still empressed.

You need to think about where you want to put every shot. It's not enough just to be on the fairway or the green - you've got to be in the right place or face a difficult recovery. However if you get it right you are rewarded with a scoring opportunity. The run of holes from 13 inwards are magnificent and the 17th hole is truly spectacular.

The only weak tee shot (compared against the others) is the 18th, but the second shot approach down a fairway with water on both sides, and getting narrower, makes up for that minor disappointment.

I was lucky enough to be paired up with a club member, who was really helpful showing me round. This is one of the most testing course I have ever played anywhere, but it was a joy from the first tee to the last green. You do need to have an open mind about losing balls though, because if it ain't green or sandy, you're in the water. I visit the Sarasota area annually and I shall certainly return to play this fabulous course again.

The most pleasurable golf courses ive ever played, as long as you dont mind losing balls!players will be tamed, egos will be cracked but every hole has something special about it. fantastic.
