Cocoa Beach is fun course. It is very easy though. Usually it is in fair shape. But it is worth the money. The views on the river nine are amoung the best in FL

Accuracy tester, and a course management tester with all the water around. You'll definately practice your water carry shots, or you'll lose balls trying. Nice wildlife -- near a nature preserve. Alligators and huge snapping turtles are almost always seen, along with osprey, pelicans, cranes, and other tropical birds. If you're not from Florida, bring binoculars to check out the alligators and try not to bean any with your tee shot ;-)

If you play with dowsing balls (balls that are magically attracted to water, like dowsing rods), you may want to go inland a bit more. Water is in play, or just to the side, for virtually all of the 27 holes.

This course has three nine-hole courses, River, Lakes, and Dolphin. You (or the starter) can pick two, or sometimes they have one shut down for maintenance. River/Dolphin is my favorite combination, but the Lakes course is nice, too. The course is on Meritt Island on the riverside, away from the beach, so the coastal winds (especially in winter) don't necessarily affect play as much, though the course isn't immune to wind. Being near sea-level, heavy rains can flood this course easily, with chunks of it marked GUR. That hasn't been much of a problem this season as it was last fall with all the storms. Though there's a lot of water, the course itself isn't unreasonably difficult as it's flat and less wooded than inland courses can be.
