Shoots in the 90s

One of the top courses and best value in the area. Maintained in good overall condition for a public course with tee boxes and divot marks on the green a real problem. The layout and scenery make up for its deficencies. The staff is courteous, welcoming and friendly. Although the fairways are generous for the most part, you cannot spray the ball. Bring a few extra balls as there are a few holes where a miss is a lost ball. The course is laid out through a mangrove area and water is present on most holes and in play on several. Iguanas, racoons and several varieties of exotic birds inhabit the course. The obligatory Florida gator is present as well. The course is South Florida flat, but has enough doglegs, hazards and quirks to make for a very interesting and enjoyable round of golf. Unlike many "upscale" courses in the area, there are no "repeat" holes. Each hole has its own character and challenge. Some use length, some rely on obstructions, some are configuration, but all are enjoyable. There are different rates depending on season and whether or not you are a Miami-Dade County resident. A much better value than Doral with better design and friendlier attitude.

Customer Service

Very good, especially in the Pro Shop.

There really aren't any in Miami. Have played all public and private courses in Miami except Indian Creek (really restricted).

Fantastic public course. Very scenic and challenging. Excellent value with weekday after 10 am fees. Course rewards accuracy off the tees and into the greens more than length. But play from the back tees and you better eat your Wheaties

Customer Service

When comparing length to course rating, this course is relatively difficult. Water comes into play on about 12 holes and the thicket places increased value on accuracy off the tee on one or two additional holes. The use of water is excellent, as there are numerous risk/reward opportunities.

Customer Service

Excellent.

Shoot in the 80s

This is the best public course in Dade County. The course layout is difficult and challenging, and it is generally kept in very good condition. Tee boxes are in decent shape year round, though they are not all very level. Greens are fast and grainy, and are also kept in generally good condition (ball marks are a problem, as they usually are on public courses). The rough is tough but not ridiculous, and there are plenty of hazards to contend with. Bring a few extra balls at least.

A Senior Tour event is played at this course every year (Royal Caribbean), and the players seem to like the course. Practice facilities are decent and the prices are not outrageous. All around, the best public course you can easily play in the area.
