Shoots in the 80s

The tee boxes, fairways and almost all the greens were in tremendous shape. The fairways are wide open, and as you will see from the photos, there are some trees, but no patches of trees thick enough to be called woods. And as there is a difference in the grass from the fairways to the roughs, the difference is minimal, so playing from the roughs will not penalize you.

I'm not a particularly long hitter, but on all the par fours, I found myself choosing either a nine iron or one of my wedges for an approach shot. While this is not especially bad, it means I didn't get to use my other irons much. I really like the par five holes, two of which are crossed by a canal (like in the above photo), the last is a dog leg right where the green hides behind a pond that has some tall rushes.

This is a course that will allow a novice golfer the opportunity to stay out of trouble and score well, and it's affordable, too, especially if you reserve a tee time with an online discount service. Worst case the greens fees are <$40.

Golfers that are looking for a challenging course with an interesting terrain will be more satisfied elsewhere.

05/2010: Paid for tee time through a discount tee time service, but usually under $39.
