Shoot in the 80s

This is one of five resort courses in the retirement community of Palm Coast. Excellent condition and lovingly maintained. This course did not suffer the loss of trees during the wildfires of '98 as did Matansas Woods. Small but excellently appointed clubhouse with good food in grill. Every hole is nicely "framed" by the trees and terrain. Front nine runs in circular fashion and both nines return to the clubhouse at the turns. In my experience the front nine plays two to three strokes harder than the back nine, but that may just be me. Helps to have tunnel vision on tee-shots and there's definitely a premium on accuracy. Fairly wide-open fairways and good lies on almost every shot. But stray into the Bermuda rough and ball will settle to bottom making it difficult to advance the ball long distances. Considerable water and marshy areas will definitely gobble up errant shots. Don't bother hunting for balls! Between the snakes, large spider webs, poison ivy and ticks in the pine trees, your best bet is to
stay in the short grass. If you're over twenty you might have the stamina to hoof it, but the summer heat, humidity and the lengthy distances from most greens to the following tees make carts virtually a necessity. Besides, carts are required on all the courses in Palm Coast with the exception of the original course in this area - Palm Harbor. Greens aren't excessively tricked up and all putt very true. Watch the short par 4 holes - 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, and 15 - that are only 316 to 360 yards range. They can lull you to sleep and some play longer than they appear from the tees. The personnel are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this track to anyone who wants a good golfing experience. All these resort courses stay busy "in season" when the folks leave the snow belt and head south. None of them are as crowded in the summer. You'll pay a premium to play early but it's worth it in order to beat the heat of midday to afternoon. The white tees play 6261 yards; blues 6591. There are also senior tees at 5857 and the reds are 5396. There's been a rather severe lack of rain this summer and carts are allowed in the fairways but they ask you to observe the 90 degree rule to your ball, then return to the concrete paths.

I prefer to tee off first and be finished in three hours - but that rarely happens any more. All these courses have both ladies and men's leagues. Try to play behind the ladies. They keep the ball in play so you get around the course usually in around four hours. Behind the men and you're looking to be out there at least five hours.

Customer Service

Personnel from cart men outside to pro shop and grill all extremely friendly. Tips are genuinely appreciated.
