Shoots in the 70s

Good layout with some fun and interesting holes. Well maintained. Good greens. A nice "Florida" style course with sand, water, some "bulkhead" greens over water.

Customer Service

Good. Nice people. Nothing great, nothing bad.

Small driving range, only about 20 spots to hit from - but balls were included in greens fee (more public courses should do this in my opinion). Nice practie putting green that was identical speed to course greens. Good snack bar at 1/10 tee. I played 17 Jan 2005 and it was VERY windy. I struggled a bit in the 20-25 mph wind but it was a good test and plays difficult. Most holes that day seemed to be hard cross winds which made the tee shots very tough.

Shoot in the 80s

As a year round resident of Ballantrae, I've had the opportunity to play this course about 100 times. It is always in good condition and is especially good when the "season" November - April rolls around (members return from north & prices go up). Greens are firm and fair. However, if you miss a green, good chance you'll wind up in trouble - in a bunker, down in a swale or in the water. Those that can hit it straight, maybe 200 yards off the tee will find themselves in good position for par. From the white tees, par 4's are around 350 yards on average. The par 3's are less than 150 and the par 5's just under 500 yds. You may be tempted to go for the par 5's in 2, but, unless you are a single digit handicap - you'll very likely find yourself in the water. Enjoyable course, lots of nature - cranes, rabbits, turtles and gators throughout course. Number 18 has St. Lucie River as backdrop.

Nice Bar and restaurant. View of St. Lucie River. The halfway house between holes 1 & 10 is okay for a drink or a quick snack, but has limited menu. Beware, restrooms at halfway house (hole 1 & 10)and one port-o-potty on number 12. You could be out there 2 hrs. w/o john. Plenty of bushes if you got to go.
