Played Poipu in July of 09. This was one of a three course deal I got called the Kauai Challenge, (Kauai Lagoon, Princeville and Poipu for one low price). The customer service here is top rate and the facilities is first class all the way. Not sure why the range doesn’t open until nine, but the chipping area and practice green worked just well. The front nine is actually very simple and your chance to score well. An errant lay-up cost me two strokes and I finished three over on the front. The back nine is all exposed to the ocean and heavy winds. You’ll also pick up some light rain. I had an 8:00AM tee time and by the time I got to the back nine, the winds were blowing strong. The bunkers are great and allow you to go for the pin and get some spin on the ball. The green were slow, but in great shape. I’d play this place again in a heartbeat although I would try to get the earliest tee time I could. Also easy to book a time here; I called two days prior to my round. As a note, on Kauai near Poipu and Kauia Lagoons is a golf shop called Pro-Am golf. Ball prices lower than So Cal prices.

Perfectly manicured course. Difficulty depends entirely on the trade winds. Semi meek in the winter it can be a terror in the summer when the trades have shifted to the lee side.

Customer Service

Very good but pricey.

Perfectly manicured in every way. Exposed to the trade winds, so play early and the course is 5-7 strokes easier. Great views. Everything breaks toward the setting sun. It's a fun course.

Customer Service

Great. Very nice people.

Played the course over several days and under varied conditions, and the trade winds will significantly affect your play. The course offers a nice layout with some beautiful vistas on 15 and 16. The course was in great shape and pin placements will determine your score.

Excellent

Although not as difficult as expected, this is the best of the three courses in the Kauai Challenge package (Kauai Lagoons and Princeville are the others). Great customer service, superb course condition and playability. It was a bit more crowded than the others, but not too bad. Winds can play havoc with your game, but the combination of scenery and golf can't be beat.

Customer Service

Great on course and in the shop.

Great course. Great views. Excellent condition and friendly staff. We were lucky, as the course wasn''t too windy. I heard this course is tough when the wind is up, but I thought I wouldn''t do to well, but got a 95, which is good for me on my 1st time playing here.

Customer Service

friendly, helpful staff.

There have a great shower/locker room facility. Got to see many of "Tiger Wood" lockers, plus taking a fresh bath after a round was great!

Course is in great condition , but I found it much easier than expected - clearly the Grand Slam is played here because of some Hyatt or Hawaii deal , not because its the toughest course in Hawaii . I'm sure a lot of golfers stay away because they are scared of how tough it is. Admitsedly , I caught it on a day with little wind. Last four holes are spectacular , but generally , a very fair course with quite some space if you miss a few shots
