Wonderfully maintained course. I usually don't like courses that weave through residential areas (there are houses on almost every hole), but this course is the exception. I love playing this course. Bring your towel and sunglasses, because there are so many fairway bunkers on this course that you'e bound to spend some time in the beach. The greens are perfect and the fairways are immaculate. If I had a little more dough I would book a permanent tee time here. Practive facility is really nice. GPS carts (not the fancy ones with the picture of the hole though)

Knowledgable, friendly. Bag drop off gives you that country club feel. There always seems to be a pro in the clubhouse and he is always willing to ask questions. I've never eaten dinner there, but I hear the food is decent.

The course was in excellent condition, tees to greens. Although disappointed with being punished for good shots (i.e. rough in middle of fairway), overall the course was an interesting challenge. Numerous holes had hidden hazards, so be sure to invest the $2 on a yardage guide - the scorecard and in-cart tips provide very little help.

White Deer Run is not one those newer designs that expects you to throw darts at small targets. You have plenty of room off the tees, but that doesn't make it a pushover. There are lots of fairway traps you need to avoid in order to shoot a good score. The greens are well protected, too. But you won't spend the day reloading off the tee because the course is too narrow. I especially appreciate this in a course that has a lot of housing development bordering it. (I don't like to worry about broken windows, etc.) The staff treats you well, and yes, they are concerned about pace of play, but I consider that a plus, not a negative. I also like the way the course is spread out, no parallel holes, and each has its own character. The greens are well groomed, fairly fast, and putt true.

I think the design of the ninth hole could be better. Not a bad hole, but it seems like a missed opportunity to use the lake that it borders. A minor gripe.

Very well designed track with lots of variety in the holes.

In trying to maximize profit by getting more rounds in each day, they allow very little time between groups, forcing them to be jerks about pace of play. It''s in the middle of a huge housing development which intensifies the artificiality of the course design.

Quality and condition are strengths of this well-maintained course. Friendly, courteous staff. Loved the GPS yardage tool on the cart, as well as the informative booklet detailing each hole with commentary and course management/strategic recommendations. Food at turn was good and beverages were cold.

Inherent: Design of course will penalize some good shots, including putts.

Incidental: Maintenance worker began manually watering a green with a big fire hose while we were on the green. Couldn't believe it. Later, same worker was flirting with beverage cart person on cart path adjacent to tee box we were using. Perhaps some education for staff would be helpful.

Typical, tough Nugent design. Scenic and long with quality, well-maintained tees, greens and fairways. Perhaps a part of Nugent design strategy (see also Arboretum in BG), this course tends to penalize good and bad golf shots, both on fairways and on greens. If you can get past the course design punishing some of your good shots, you will enjoy the quality of the golf experience here.

I found the overall experience to be on par (pardon the pun) with Seven Bridges, Golf Club of Illinois and Harborside Intl.
