Shoots in the 70s

If you haven't played Angus Links in the new millenium, come back and check it out. The primary rough is more forgiving and fairways have been widened since the 1990s. The staff are excellent and cater to golfers. High class course that doesn't mind walk-ons, with a small town price and friendliness. This course deserves to be checked out if you are in the Lake Shelbyville area.

Customer Service

These people are very friendly and polite and know how to cater to golfers.

A Challenge, but manageable. The front nine is easier than the back, but each has it nuisances. Evey hole give each golfer the opportunity to play smart (low risk) or GO FOR IT!

Customer Service

Very Good and Friendly.

Shoots in the 90s

For a course out in the middle of nowhere this is a very nice golf course. The price is very cheap for what you get. The front nine is more of a links type course but the back nine has more trees and is very challenging. Holes 14-18 are amongt the best in the area in my opinion. The greens were in excellent shape.

Customer Service

Excellent. Very nice and friendly.

Shoots in the 100s

First of all, let me say that for a course out in the "sticks", the folks who run Angus Links have a beautiful course with gorgeous scenery, and the course to me appears well maintained. HOWEVER, this course is NOT, repeat NOT, for anyone who shoots in the 50s for 9 on an easy course; come here and you'll shoot in the 70s for 9! To be honest, I'm not a very good golfer (and neither was my partner that day), and if I would have known how difficult this course is, I would have never played it. This course, to me, is the most difficult (overall) course in the entire Eastern Illinois/Western Indiana area. Don't get me wrong, I haven't played every course in this area, but EVERY hole on the back 9 was difficult! With (seemingly) tee shots that need to be within 10-15 yards of dead center or you're in trouble, I'd say that's a bit much for the poor golfer, wouldn't you (to me, that's a bit much for a GOOD golfer...)? I didn't like the fact that they put us on the back 9 to start with anyway; piss-poor course management by the folks in the clubhouse, because as we headed to the 10th teebox, there were TWO groups just finishing 9!!! And of course, these guys had to wait behind us, because we had to wait, etc., etc., etc., and it wasn't until later that we were able to get some distance between us. They should have looked closer at the tee times of the other players and realized we were coming up on them (besides, the clubhouse people kind of looked at us funny when we came in to pay for our greens fees anyway, like the way small town folk do when they see a stranger in town for the first time). Next, the course is set up weird, so that when you finish some holes, you have NO idea where the next damn tee box is! Trying to follow the map on the back of the scorecard seemed not to help either. I think all new golfers there would appreciate better signage (are you listening, Angus Links?). In closing, don't play this course if you're a duffer. I was so pissed off that I "helicoptered" a few of my golf clubs after bad hits, and I haven't done that in years! Oh, and bring TWO dozen golf balls; I think I lost at least eight, if not more. Needless to say, that scorecard got pitched, and I refuse to ever play this course again.

Customer Service

A little bit snobbish, to me.

Shoots in the 80s

This is a challenging course that offers a lot of different shots and challenges. The course dares you on a lot of holes, and it wins most of those. For the price, it is a great bargain.

Customer Service

They are always friendly and courteous.
