Shoots in the 80s

This is an eminently decent muni GC. I live in Rochester NY now, and I look forward every summer to a trip home to play the old muni, both for nostalgic reasons and the fact that it knocks the socks off the municipal courses here in Monroe County, with the possible exception of the Robert Trent Jones designed Durand-Eastman course. But that course has huge drainage and maintenance issues, and I generally find that Crawfordsville's course is pretty well taken care of.

And on top of that, I find this course relatively challenging. For a muni, there are a lot of fairway bunkers that create an interesting dimension. Some of the spaces between holes have been too open in the past (especially on the front), but they've planted a lot of trees that have helped this. And I find the back 9 to be a genuinely challenging side (I think the drive on 17 is the most difficult shot on the course).

Like I said, there's a bit of sentimentality in this review, and you have to take into account the fact that this is a muni and not a country club. But I think CMGC is a great asset for the community.

I feel this course really provides a challenge to all skill levels. The course is really open and have minimal hazards. Construction is underway and hope to really improve the course.

Customer Service

Customer service is generous and very friendly.

The clubhouse is small, but it accomodates the size of the community in which it is located. The town is increasing and so is the sport.
