An inexpensive old municipal course with push-up style greens. Although short on yardage and armed with only a handful of bunkers, this course never seems to yield scores as low as one might expect. The mature trees that line the holes often demand a particular shot shape and force creative recovery shots when the golfer goes astray. The tilted greens give a subtle reward to those who can place approaches below the hole. The management tries to disguise the abundance of short par 4s by listing two excellent par 4s as par 5s on the scorecard (#5 and #13) to artificially boost par to 72. The course struggles with chronic and seasonal conditioning issues. Both nines end with par 3s; both holes have a driving range mat as their tee. Summer heat takes its usual toll on the fairways, but the greens are usually firm and in good shape all season. Aside from the hike up the hill to #13 green, it’s an easy walk. Overall, this is a nice place for a casual round at a modest price if you set your expectations accordingly.
