Just wanted to write an updated review of Briar Leaf that better reflects my home course. Briar Leaf is without a doubt, the most challenging course in the area, the greens are fast and smooth, the fairways are always in great shape and the course is beautiful. The owners are putting tons of money into the course every year and now Briar Leaf is thought of as the best course in the area.

The best! Our golf pros are all great teachers and great guys and the outside staff is super-friendly.

The layout is interesting with some manicuring and maintenance the course would be a lot better.

Very poorly maintained. Island green is like hitting a cart path. Often well struck balls hit the green and travel to a watery grave. Penal is one thing, but hitting a perfect shot that doesn't hold the postage stamp sized undulating green is another. FYI, I am not bitter I am 1 for 2 on sticking the green, but the guys with me on both occassions had difficulty holding the green.

The course is pricey based on its quality and condition. Maintenance is an issue as well. If you want to play a value priced course that is extremely well maintained and nearby I would highly recommend Beechwood.
