Shoots in the 80s

As a USNA grad, I've played this course quite a bit. I was stationed again at USNA for 2 years and played there as much as possible. The course is in as good a shape now as ever. The greens are fast with lots of break. The front 9 plays long because of elevated greens. This course can be tough if you have a moderate or greater slice. Back 9 is beautiful and hilly. Accurate drives help back there. Overall, it's the best course you can play for the price.

Customer Service

Always pleasant and helpful. Good people all around.

Having gone to USNA, I''ve played this course somewhere around 100 times over the course of my 4 years there. I love it. It is tough from the back and fair from the whites. I agree with another reviewer: #1 from the tips is one of the most difficult opening holes of any golf course I''ve played. It is conditioned well, particularily in the fall when they are gearing up for the collegiate tournament. About two weeks after they aeriate and sand the greens they are like lightening. If you are above the hole on #1 or #5 and the wind is blowing...forget about it. The fairways are not cut as tight as a some golf clubs I''ve played but they are good enough. Trees come into play as well, but in the spring the biggest obstacle is the rough. I don''t know if the grounds crew can''t keep up with it or if the intention is to make it like the US Open. Either way, that is the result. I have many memories of having to take an 8 or 9 just to get out of the rough. I love this course: it is a strong draw for me to get stationed there again or even to retire there.

Having gone to school at the Academy and being a golf addict helped me play this course literally hundreds of times. In fact when I go to the range, I often play the course in my head for practice. Anyway, in my opinion, it is one of the best courses in southern Maryland. It's beautifully manicured and the upkeep is outstanding. If you play the back tees, it's a long course that reqiures few mistakes. The opening hole in my opinion is one of the hardest I've ever played. The par 5 third is a great hole and 8 and 9 are challenging par fours. The back though doesn't have a weak hole except maybe 18. If you haven't played much golf in the area, get prepared for not having a flat lie all day. They are rare in Maryland and virtually nonexistent at this course. And it doesn't let up when you get to the green. They almost all have a ton of break and are fast. So, if you ever get the chance, you have to try to get out and play this course.

When I was there, two years ago, they didn't take credit cards! So be prepared and take some cash just in case.

The greens and fairways are beautifully maintained and manicured.

Greens are fast yet true and a few seem to have a bus buried in the middle of them which make for challenging putts. just about every green is elevated and going over the back is often times very punishing.

Fairway grass is nice and short and allows for very clean shots. 1st cut rough is as it should be....not punishing but definately a hindrance. The second cut is punishing and sometimes requires a higher club to ensure solid contact.

Tee boxes are level and lush. All the necessary practice facilities.

Highly recommend getting on the course at least once. A must play.

Beautiful Course. Nice sloping hills. Nicely cut fairways, and greens. Awesome back nine very challenging. Front 9 pretty straight and a little water to go with it. Nice first hole. Beautiful Par 5, 3rd hole. They have a range, practice putting, chipping and sand trap. Friendly people, hard to get a tee time sometimes. Fairly priced all around good course. Some narrow fairways make it tough to slice it. Nice views of Chesapeke.

This a very well maintained course. Very scenic course with some nice views of the Chesapeake Bay. Greens and tee boxes are in excellent shape. The course is fairly hilly, especially the back nine. This is a very fun and challenging course.
