Great course - I personally think that the slope is calculated too low. Between challenging tee shots, intimidating approach shots, changing elevations and more sand than I needed I would have increased the slope to at least 133 (from 126). Greens were not overly penalizing but were fairly fast - otherwise a great course. Only negative - EXTREMELY SLOW PLAY!!! Took 5+ hours to play 18 holes. We complained to on-course marshall who didn't seem to care. I would only go back on a slow (non-weekend) day - but would then be excited to go back.

Customer Service

Club house - good; Bar/restaurant - very good; on-course marshall - worthless.

Driving range - just okay as location over valley makes it hard to judge distance. Extra points for hitting off grass. Chipping/putting area solid.

Best course I''ve ever played, possibly the best public course in New England as far as I am concerned. Challenging yet not so much that you''ll wanna quit.

This course is without question my favorite anywhere. I've played it four times in the last two years. The starter at the first tee was pleasant and informative. He recommended the appropriate tees for my skill level (there are five sets of tees). The fairways are bowl shaped, meaning if you hit it on the outer edges, your ball tends to bounce towards the middle which was good for my game. They have the golf carts with on-board computers that will keep score and give you distances from any point on the course. I recommend this course highly. This is a first class operation.

Waverly is a superbly conditioned course that lives up to the best that Brian Silva can deliver in golf course design. If your adrenaline starts flowing when you're faced with a difficult approach shot, you will enjoy this course. Large greens compensate for difficult approaches. There is very little water, but it is strategically placed. Greens were very fast on the day we played. Speed and sloping pin placements resulted in challenging conditions. The course is characterized by significant elevation changes. Cart path only on the day that we played. Not a "grip & rip" course. Did I mention that the restaurant alone is worth a visit? Great place to entertain. Well stocked pro shop. The nine hole course is executive length.
