Shoots in the 70s

This is the oldest of the two Nantucket clubs, dating back to the 1920s. The design is by H. Emerson Armstrong, but A.W. Tillinghast also made a few dramatic changes. Sankaty is a classic linksland course with many views of the Atlantic Ocean. It is also one of the eastern most courses in the United States, located east of 70 degrees longitude. Sankaty plays to a dificult par 72, especially when the wind is up and it almost always is. While a few of the par 5s provide birdie opportunities, the par 3s are exceptionally well-conceived (and bunkered). Except for the late fall and early spring, Sankaty must be played with a member. Interestingly, the grasses at Sankaty are the same as at Turnberry in Scotland. This is not surprising since both courses benefit from the Gulfstream--and in that sense are very close to each other.

Customer Service

The Pro Shop and other staff are great.
