Shoot in the 80s

This is a very nice muni course. The turf conditions are usually very good as are the greens. The front nine is more open with some links-style holes while the back nine winds through the trees. This course is one of the best public courses in the Ann Arbor area and home to a large population of deer. Weekend rounds can be quite long (5+ hours/round) due to the volume, however. It doesn't seem that the marshalls really try to get the slowpokes going. Some of the green to tee distances are a bit long. During the week/evenings, the pace of play is much better. In fact, I can take the wife and 5 year old for 9 holes after 6 p.m. and it seems that we have the place to ourselves. After your round stop by the Common Grill in downtown Chelsea for some really good eats (they don't take reservations except for groups >5). If you know someone who works for the Univ. of Michigan, you have to try out Radrick Farms in Ann Arbor ($30 green fees on a $80+/round course).
