Shoots in the 80s

Amazing course that is cut right into the middle of a thick forests. The course can be tight on some holes but is very fair and gives you the opportunity to score well. Greens are nice size and have good speed. Fairways were in amazing shape and I must of seen at least 10 dear during my round. One of the better courses in northern michigan and a must play for the avid golfer. This is also rated one of the top 50 women friendly courses in America.

Have played a lot of the courses in northern Michigan and yet to find one better than BLGC...every hole there challenges the golfer, no trickery or grand vistas, just a pure and excellent golf experience...no wonder it's one of the top rated courses in the state and in the country...course is well maintained and is probably one of the best, if not the best, in Michigan...which leads to one of my two complaints about this facility...first, is that you will have to deal with maintenance personnel on at least one or two holes, thats a given and secondly is that the pace of play can be slow, golfers tend to look for their lost balls in the woods a little too long...keep it in the fairway folks!

Customer Service

Outside staff and waitstaff are very friendly and helpful, some of the best I've ever dealt with!

Shoots in the 80s

I must have played a different course than the previous reviewer. My experience could not have been more opposite. This course ranks up there with the prettiest and best laid out I have played. I have walked Augusta National and played Oakmont, and Black Lake was an experience I will always remember as well. The course was admittedly very new and as a result the fairways were soft, but the greens were in very good condition and the course was a blast to play. Lots of elevation changes, lots of Northern Michigan golf at its' best. You must play with a member, so maybe that was the last guys issue. He really didn't play here, but at a new muni track 30 miles down the road.

Customer Service

Very friendly and accomodating.

Shoot in the 70s

This course is made up of three 9-hole courses. The starter sent me to the "Oaks Course." It was one of the worst 9 hole set-ups I've ever played. The fairways were in bad condition, and only a few holes had 100 yd. markers, which is incredibly frustrating. Not one hole had a 200 yd. marker that I could remember. This is supposed to be a "resort course", but it played more like a bad Muni track. They charged me $50 to play a 5900 yd. pitch-and-putt. On a good note, the greens were in good condition and the tee boxes were cut pretty tight, but that's about it. The second 9 holes were a little better (the Canyon Course), but I don't recomend this place. If you play in the 70's to mid 80's, you will bored out of your mind.

Customer Service

The customer service was good. They fit me in as a single very quickly.

The range was too small. They did have a good selection in the pro shop.
