DO NOT GO. I have been traveling to GIants Ridge for the last 10 years with as many as 20 guys for a long 4 day weekend. Over the years our group has decreased to 8 due to the poor conditions and service at GIants Ridge. I have finally had enough. This year the Legends was terrible. Grass in the buckers, anthills on the greens. Absolutley neglected. If you are thinking that it is too early for a course that far north to be in good shape, we also played the Wilderness at Fortune Bay which was outstanding. The courses at Giants Ridge are absolutley terrible. Not to mention that we were there on a Friday afternoon for a 3pm tee time and found out that the Bar in the Lodge is not open until 4pm. WHAT? Even on Saturday when the tee times were supposedly full, the bar was dead at 3pm with only one employee working and only the 8 of us ini the entire palce. It is a ghost town. This is a tragedy. This used to be my favorite course and destination and is now my worst.

One of the best public courses that you can play in the state of Minnesota. It's damn near in Canada but the drive was well worth the wait. I played The Quarry and every hole was memorable and the course itself in fantastic shape. One reviewer below mentioned Hazeltine... well I've had the pleasure to play Hazeltine and I'll pick the Quarry over Hazeltine National every time. The Quarry was in fantastic shape and the greens were as challenging as they get. The scenery and views are breathtaking! My favorite hole was all of them, but number 17 and 18 were probably my favorites. Simply put, a must play for the avid golfer who loves to play in the woods.

Customer Service

Pretty good. It was the low season so I had to unload my own clubs but they did have someone on 18 clean your clubs for ya which was a nice touch.

The Legend is terrible for the second year in a row. It used to be pristine, now they don't seem to care about it. It will push people away to the Quarry and the Wilderness.

I have very little bad to say about the Quarry course, it still was maintained to a very high level. This was the second year out of eight consecutively that the Legend course was awful. I don't think with the weather they will receive in that area you couldn't forgive them for a bad year. This was two too many. The greens were unplayable, the fairways were marginal at best and the bunkers were growing grass which is more than the greens could say. They offered a discounted round which was the same as the website had posted and offered a fifteen dollar certificate in the clubhouse. They should have charged fifteen dollars to play the course. It is too bad as the course was absolutely beautiful before. I only play it in the spring and will not again hopefully.

I have never golfed the big name courses before (Pebble, Bethpage, Hazeltine..)But I will assume that The Quarry can compete with them because I can not imagine a better place to golf. Not just for the scenery, but the course truly tests course management, iron accuracy, and putting. Big hitters have no advantage on this course. If I die tomorrow let the Quarry be my heaven.

This place is exceptional! The Quarry was the site of last year's State Amateur Qualifier, and gave way to some great golf, slick greens, and beautiful terrain. These courses together are amazing, and nobody should pass them up.

The Quarry is the best golf course in Minnesota. The Quarry and Legend combined give Giants Ridge the resort with the 2 best golf courses anywhere. Both courses are challenging and beautiful. A real North Woods experience! The Quarry will challenge anyone's game and needs to be played more than once to learn how to play it. Great golf and a beautiful unspoiled place where all you hear is the birds and the wind in the trees.

Customer Service

An absolute gem of a course that is carved out of a chunk of Northern Minnesota wilderness. The course was in excellent condition. The prettiest hole on the course is #17 but there are others that are very scenic. I can't wait until the spring of 2003 for the opening of The Quarry which is the sister course of the Legend. This course is well worth the trip and they have a nice lodge with very affordable accomodations.

Customer Service

Good description of the course from the starter and friendly people in the pro shop. The Superintendant is a very friendly gentleman and does an excellent job.
