This is a gorgeous golf course that is in great shape. Other customers were courteous. There are three 9 hole courses and they all have different offerings. There is a lot of water, bring extra balls.

Customer Service

Good. Nothing spectacular. Golf shop is pretty sparse.

Lets be honest for a Goldstrand course its not half bad but as a course competing against Erin Hills, Crystal Downs, The Quarry at Giants Ridge, etc. theres no comparision. It is a scenic course but it lacks many key elements which make a course great in my book. To start the bunkers here are simply lackluster and plain, extremely shallow and in my opinion they don't comliment the surrounding beauty of the region. Second the course lacks a good deal of texture something all great golf courses have. The rough is the same grass as the fairway and little is done to make and distinguishing character out of this course. Most of all the greens at Superior National are some of the most lackluster in undulation and size variance. The greens seem to be of the cookiecutter era Goldstrand is so infamously known for. I personally think it is a great shame that such a beautiful piece of property was hired out to lets face it one of the most boring golf course architects in the country. To sum is all Superior National was a true dissapointment and it will stay one for all true golf afficiandos. It may be the greatest thing to some ignorant 25+ handicap but for the true golfer it will never live up to there true wishes

WOW! Scenic? Pebble Beach holds nothing to this course for scenery. Bring a video camera when you play this course to catch the roaring rapids and waterfalls. We played the River 9 and Canyon 9. Oh, about the gameplay -bring lots of balls! - this course redefines the term "rough". You may need mountain rope gear for ball searching. I lost 9 balls - my wife, 11. If it's out-of-bounds - it's gone. I think deadly serious golfers would not like this course - the lack of playable rough penalyzes lays that would have been playable on any course (well - except the Oakmont Country Club at this year's US Open). When I first saw the tee at Canyon 6 I gasped and then I laughed. If you've ever seen the print collection of those "Impossible Holes" - this is that course! I loved it! - I'd play it a thousand times and never get bored. To the serious they'd think it gimmicky like miniature golf cicuit. I can hardly wait to go again - well worth the long drive. I'd love to watch this course played by professionals (televised of course) because there is absolutely no way a gallery could walk this course without rope climbing gear and kayaks!

Customer Service

They bent over backwards for obviously over par golfers (my wife and I - the mere sight of us instantly make any one recall: Laurel & Hardy).

Closest thing I've seen to this is the 9 hole Lone Spur Golf Course in Eagan, MN - right across the river from Fort Snelling. Extreme hills and blind shots with spectacular views of the Minnesota River Valley.

Wow. Stunning. Awesome. ZADS! The scenery is breathtaking and the tee-offs are daring. If you play golf for fun or amusement, you MUST play this 27 hole course. Particularly any 18 hole combination that includes the Canyon Nine with either the River or Mountain nines. If you have ever looked at those artist illustrations of 'impossible holes' with a smirk of challenge - then this course is for you. A shot out of bounds is never found; the lack of rough expects that you plan for an 18 ball loss (one per hole). I lost 7 balls on my first play of 18 - my wife lost 11. This course CANNOT be played without a cart...unless someone can invent a sport combining rock climbing + extreme running + golf. The play is slow because you are so dumfounded by the views and the challenges presented by you at certain tee-offs. Bring a camera and video-cam along - because you won't want to forget a view.

Customer Service

Being from Minneapolis - I'm used to courses where the employees expect some obnoxious level of hoity-toity respect above their pay scale...merely based on the name or location of the course that employs them. I got NONE of that at the Superior National Golf Course. Gracious reality hosts without all of that plastic 'Edinaite' coated with syrupy 'Minnesota Nice'. Certain resorts package golf deals with Superior National - so check around.

I've personally traveled (but not golfed) Pebble Beach - and the views of that prestigious course pale to Superior National merely because of their monotony; Superior National has stunning surprises at tee-offs and dog-leg turns. The closest course I have played to this is a previously private nine hole along the Minnesota River cliffs on Hwy 13 called Lost Spur in the Eagan/Mendota area immediately south of the Twin Cities.

I like the course, but it's overrated. Too many short par 4s, long distances between tees and greens, and mandatory carts are negatives in my book.

Customer Service

Very friendly.

This is barnone the most beautiful course in Minnesota!!! Not a bad view on the entire course. Make sure to putt a lot on their practice green before going to the course. Ball control is a MUST or you will be hunting in the woods all day. It is an extremely fun, relaxing course.

Very friendly staff, "Minnesota Nice"

Superior National Golf Course in Lutsen, MN is definitely worth the effort of getting there. There are stunning view of Lake Superior, and the quality of the course(s)(There are three nines) is outstanding. My personal favorite nine is the Canyon nine, whic has a rapids that cuts through a gorge that comes into play on two beautiful holes. We played the course in May, and the conditions were above-average, with the most interesting sand (dark sand) bunkers that took a little getting used to. I urge any of you who get the chance to play this course, you won't regret it!
