This could have been an exceptional course, and at one time it was. Know you are treated to the results of greed overtaking golf, which is most noticeable on 13 and 14, among the ugliest courses in golf, thanks to the breathtaking vista of 120 virtually identical beige tract homes lining the fairways. Every year, more homes intrude on the course, to the point where you can feel like a voyeur playing here, able to spend too much time staring into people's living and bedrooms. Fortunately, thousands of them are spared as at least one in six homes are for sale, a condition that could become permanent as the Twin Cities Metro sets world records for overbuilding.

Poor Tom Weiskopf must be grieving. He said this was as good a piece of land as he was ever handed, at in its first year, it was a handome place. Now it looks like South San Francisco, and next year, it almost certainly will be worse, and in the near future, it will disappear to be replaced by many thousand more identical and unremarkable, and overpriced, homes.

I'd've had to play in a major city, right down the main street, to find anything like this course; it's painfull to think what might have been here.

I played this course a couple of weeks ago and it is a solid track with well manicured fairways and sneaky-fast greens. My favorite hole on the course is hole #2, a dog-tail left, par 5, that I scored a beautiful birdie on and had a chip in try for eagle! The front 9 on the course is absolutely fantastic, with a mixed bag of possibilities. The back nine however, was just plain vanilla with many long par 3's and blind shots as well. The course set-up is playable for all skill levels and the 'Pay the Temperature' price ($45 w/cart) was excellent. While I enjoyed the course for the most part, the normal green fees of $99 w/cart and an hour drive from the eastern burbs makes this course overpriced IMO. I could see paying $50 green fees plus $$ for a cart but $99 is just way too much. I played with a co-worker and my brother from Oklahoma and we all felt that the course is a solid track at the $50 range, but anything over that would be considered 'overpriced.' The cart girl was probably the oldest in the state but very friendly and attentive. The clubhouse is upscale and one of the real bright spots of the course. The practice facilities are excellent and well kept. In closing, this is a great place to golf once in your lifetime or once a year, at most. For the price in the twin Cities area ...there are much better choices for the price.

Customer Service

Above average.

The old saying "you get what you pay for" certainly holds true at The Wilds. I was fortunate enough to play this course during a visit to the Twin Cities, and I was not disappointed. Although pricey (on a Friday in July I paid $99, which includes cart and small bag of range balls), the course is worth the price. It starts at the first tee where the starter gives first time players a nice heavy metal bag tag, and an excellent full color 3-d course description booklet that details every hole with exact yardarge and comments on where to play the ball given by Tom Weiskopf. The course itself is very difficult with a slope rating of 142 from the Championship tees (you can even go further back using the Weiskopf tees). You need to be accurate and straight to avoid loosing a bunch of balls in the surrounding woods, lakes, swamps, and creeks (I lost 6). I enjoyed every hole, all were distinct with their own personality. The course was in unbelievable condition when I played it, the fairways were like a carpet and the greens fast but fair. This was a truly enjoyable course to play and I can't imagine better course conditions even on a top flight private course. Highly recommended.

THIS IS A GREAT COURSE, IT HAS TO BE ONE THE BEST COURSES I HAVE PLAYED. THIS COURSE CAN RANK WITH THE MYRTLE BEACH COURSES. WELL MAINTAINED AND NOT TOO HARD TO PLAY, ALTHOUGH I HAD A NOT SO GOOD DAY, I STILL ENJOYED IT!
