4 sets of tees allow nearly 6600' of length, if you play both rounds from the tips. Fairways, boxes, and greens all in wonderful condition. And with the wind in Big Timber, this can play as 2 or 3 completely different courses depending on whether it's calm, 30 mph, or 50mph+...

Only 9 holes. A few blind tee shots, or ones that require a little local knowledge to really work out. If you're consistently long and straight off the tee, this course leaves few other challenges. And of course, this is really only a spring-to-fall course -- not a lot of golfing going on in Montana in January...

Too bad it's only 9 holes... This little gem of a golf course has grown into a respectable layout on almost any terms. Set in dry south-central Montana, you'd expect hard fairways and tee boxes, tough-to-hold greens, and the like. Not so. I played it in mid-July, and with the mountain scenery in view on every hole (views of 2 major mountain ranges) and impeccable grounds conditions, you'd think we were playing in Tahoe or something. Water comes into play on 8 of the 9 holes, though often only as a small creek fronting the green or running down the side of the fairway.

Customer Service

Unbeatable small-town hospitality. This isn't a resort, so you can forget bag drops, valet parking, and the like. But Cold drinks and good conversation are in good supply. Memberships are crazy cheap ($60 for students -- wish my kids could learn here!)
