Shoots in the 70s

I have played here a couple of times, I live just down the road. I think for the money, this course is good, for a couple of reasons. 1> Condition. There is a lot of lush bermuda in the fairways and rough, and the greens are always in decent shape. 2> Layout. It is an all around fair test of golf. Nothing fancy here, and there are 2-3 goofy holes but fun none the less.

This course makes you hit every shot you have. The emphasis isput on accuracy. If you enjoy hitting your driver all day you will get into trouble out there. Everything froma 5 to driver off the tees. The greens and fairways are always in good condition. After the 10th the back nine is challenging and can become frustrating. Reasonable cost and good staff. A must pay if in the area.

At times you may think that you are on a putt putt course rather than a golf course. This is definately a target course. It seems to me to be like a mountain course, only it's here in the piedmont. Not a very long course, but a premium is put on accuracy. If I hadn't played with someone who had played here before, I would have been clueless on many of the holes. I teed off with everything from a driver to a six iron on the 4's and 5's. This course is a mixture of extremely difficult holes, and those that are extremely easy, like the drivable 10th.

Strange course. I love the layout and there are many scenic holes and the course does make you use a lot of clubs and make a lot of decisions. All that is good. For some reason my regular foursome never enjoys ourselves there. One experience was particularly bad and I wrote a complaint to the general manager which was responded to very nicely. A new GM called me 3 YEARS later and gave us a free round to try the course again. That was unheard of customer service. We tried the course again and still felt the same way. Good course, something you need to play if in th area, but it is not for us when compared to other local courses.
