One you have to be a guest at the hotel. They supply a caddie and if you want you can have them drive the cart. And it cost $500.00 US

A pricey course to be sure ($195 when I played) although there is a twilight rate after 2pm (a more resonable $125). Despite the Casino being closed, the course is in great condition, and adequately staffed (would like to have seen a Marshall). Very good greens, overall, I was very pleased. Since the course is closing and legendary, you've got to play it if you get to Vegas (guy in the pro shop said it was closing Dec. 1)

Range was good (balls included), GPS on the cart was nice. Shop was feeling a bit empty

Sort of like Dorothy, in the Wizard of OZ, when she steps out of the house into Munchkinland. One minute you're in the twister-world of the Vegas strip; the next you're standing in a lush, green valley. It was years ago that I played here, and I'm sorry to hear that it's closing down this year. I really enjoyed my round at The Desert Inn, and wish I had a memento to remind me of what Vegas golf used to be - a tranquil and elegant break from the madness of the strip.

The Desert Inn is the place to be be when you have to be in Vegas, and you've been-there-done-that. Nostalgic, sure, but remember what Vegas used to be...

This gem off the BLVD and is an easy taxi ride from the major hotels. It is hard to believe that this course that has hosted PGA, LPGA and Sr. PGA tournaments will no longer exist after September 2001. The layout of the course seemed to be tight as the course wove its way around homes. However, the layout caused you to hit gentle draws or fades to exact the best scoring opportunities. The presence of water helped increase the challenge of this golf course.
With the expectation of a short time to live and prosper, the course was in great shape and still being cared for dutifully. The fairways and tee boxes were in great condition; I found a few greens to have ball mark scars that noted poor care by golfers, rather than the staff. There was an even consistency of the rough and sand in the bunkers, and the water that traversed the course was clean.

The golf shop had a limited selection because of the closure, and the deli shop had few items in stock. I didn't see any teaching professionals, the range did not allow you to hit any woods(?), and the putting green was in below average conditions with brown spots.
