Shoots in the 90s

This mostly private course opens itself to the public in the early spring & fall. The course is immaculate. Beautiful views of the White Mountains, turkeys & deer scampering across the fairways... it is something special. The course requires some fore thought & finesse on most holes-however a few holes are designed for the long driver. Bring your gap wedges & prepare to putt on New England style greens. If you loose your "pro V1" it is not due to the course condition... you can find a penny in the fairway the week before Halloween. In October this is a lonesome spot, I have played nine holes & left without another golfer on the course! It's hard to find & even locals are unsure of its being here. Find it in early spring or the later half of fall, it is worth the effort. It's the way I imagine golf was before TV & Fazzio Courses.

Customer Service

Not a lot. Either play 9 or 18 with or without a cart. You have to find someone to pay usually. Check the pro shop the club house is closed for the season. In the event you cannot find a person...they will eventually find you on hole somethingteen and request payment (credit cards are fine)so start without them. This place is not "about the money" it's old school golf. The restrooms are beyond reproach. My wife insisted we design our "bath" based on her experience in the restroom in the "equiptment barn" near the tennis courts. Nice job folks. It looked expensive for anywhere let alone where a course houses its mowers. Beyond my expectaitons for a golf course clubhouse let alone the outpost stall. That restroom explains the course-"beyond expectations". I can see why the members pay so much and say little. Bring your clubs, shoes & a drink-it's all you need.

*I've walked Bear Hill in Wakefield Ma.-it has that feel.
*I have played at Lake of Isles, Conneticut & walked away with a similar awe for the experience, however it is much more expensive there. The service is what you pay for at Foxwoods.
*Some of the shorter holes have the charm of the Lawrence Welk Course in Escondido, CA.
*The par five is as long and troublesome as anything at Newton Commonwealth in MA.
*The Views are better than both Bethlehem C.C. & Maplewood in Bethlehem, NH. They have faster greens but boring fairways in contrast.
*The Mount Washington has the whole package for a price, however the renovation project is several seasons from completion.
*I have and always will love the Billerica C.C. I get the same feel of the game at Profile as I got at Billerica. Properly maintained(by anyones standards) fairways and greens... bunkers you could die in with sand hard as bricks. If you lost your ball in the woods... it was in the woods! There were no bears at Billerica, however at Profile the bears live amongst us. I leave my ball in the woods where it belongs...I / we no longer deserve it.
