Shoots in the 80s

Scenic course located right on Great Bay. Course is long from the Championship Tees so bring your driver. Greens are fairly flat and most putts are either middle of the cup, or either edge with a few holes having some break. The 8th hole is a nasty 229 yard par 3, slightly uphill with the green sloping away and guarded by two bukers on each side. Course is in great shape throughout the summer due to a new irrigation system that was installed 2 years ago. Bruce's post mentions that the greens were in bad shape - he played after they had been aerated (reason why teh sand was still on the green). This is something you can inquire about when calling for a tee time as it is only done twice per year.

Shoot in the 80s

Very scenic course, right on the New Hampshire coast. I played from the blue tees, where the yardage is 7,050 yards but the slope is only 127, though the rating is 74.5---if you are a big hitter, you can score on this course.

The course is wide open, with very wide fairways and not too many hazards. Most hazards are lateral, very few O.B. considerations. This is necessary when playing from the blue tees, as there are a lot of long holes. Eight of the par 4's are over 400 yards in length (one of which is 472 yards), so bring your big stick.

Fairways are nicely manicured, tee boxes are in good shape, but the greens need work (very dry, quite slow, sandy). As this is a "semi-private" course with a daily fee of $70, it does not get the workout of many other public courses, so the course is in good shape, except for the greens.

I shot 79, and usually shoot in the 80's. I attribute my lower score to the fact that I hit the ball a long way and didn't get into trouble doing so.

Clubhouse staff were very genial and pleasant. Pro shop is well stocked in case you need anything.

Course has plenty of water on the course, and many porta-toilets, as well.

All in all, a fun day. I paid only $40 because I was a guest of a member (forget about a membership, they cut off the waiting list in 1984!) but I would not pay $70 on a repeated basis to play here. It is fun to sample this course, though, so I would recommend anybody with in an hour drive of the seacoast taking advantage of the scenic location and challenging length.
