This is a hidden gem. I walked this course in 4 hours with an 8:30 Friday tee time on a beautiful day. Amazing. So worth traveling an extra 20 minutes from Boston to avoid 5 hour rounds loaded with hackers and save $30. Private club conditions.

Sometimes you get lucky and find a Gem and sometimes you get unlucky and don't. The simple fact is this course is a hidden Gem. At just over 6500 yards fromt he tips with a 132 slope, this course can be a bear, but even after the rains of the last couple of days, this course played fast, firm, and fair. The greens were just right at about 9.5 to 10 on the stimp reader (GUESSTIMATE), the fairways were generous and the rough was penal as it should be and the sand (all 1 that I hit from) were firmly packed and fair. The idea that this course is not on the list of all golfers for the measly price of 66 bucks with a cart and 51 for walking is beyond my scope of imagination. I do however have two complaints and in no particular order. The first is covered here and the next is in customer service. I was looking everywhere for yardage markers, yes, the 150's were clearly identified, but everything else was just a guess, that is the olnly COURSE improvement.

Customer Service

The other complaint is the Ranger came by our threesome which was following a twosome which was following a foursome and advised us to speed it up, then he stated that we needed to drive on the cart path even though there was no sign or rope indicating it. He could have been nicer and rushed the foursome that held everything up, even though we finished in 4.5 hours.

I have played many golf courses in the area and if I could own a golf course, it would be based on this model. Red Tail in Devens may want to follow thier example.

Although the course was dangerously long, i found myself driving almost all the par 4 greens from the back tees. I was following the Head pro in a group and he was a very nice guy and the clubhouse was very friendly and one gentleman that worked in there was extremely good looking.

Customer Service

Excellent

Course was in decent condition. Greens were moderately fast. The one ranger was a complete jerk, he yelled at me for driving in the rough. While yelling he distracted me and I crashed into a large oak tree. I was not huet but the cart was.

Customer Service

Other than that jerk ranger it was ok

Long flat links type golf course. I really enjoyed playing the course because there was just enough little quirks to the course to make it interesting. There is a lot of well placed hazards that break up the fairway and make the long hitter choose another club other then driver. I enjoyed playing the course very much and compared to other area courses... would definetly recommend it. Just make sure you bulk up before you go..

Customer Service

Good once you get there but do not try and ask them anything over the phone because they will not give up any info such as..... shape of course, frost delays or how busy it is.

I dont agree with the M-holes that wrote the reviews on Passaconaway. This is a beautiful course, very well maintained. Not easy but not too difficult either. Plenty of water every time I have played, which is many times. Not going thru any housing developments. Only the first and tenth holes have houses even close to them. As far as the guy complaining of dehydration, dont drink so much the night before next time! Hungover golfing tends to be rough. Rangers have never given me a hard time either, always friendly. Great course overall.

Played May 16, 2003. I've played here a few years now. I've never experienced the problems listed in the previous reviews. Course is in impeccable condition, plenty of drinking water, plush fairwary. I don't play there weekends, usually a 3-hour round. Other than the power lines (which don't come into play) this course is fine. As for the "playing thru housing developments"... this is not the case here.

Customer Service

Excellent.

It was one of the hottest days of the summer and I was dehidrated from the night before. There was only enough water availible for the first 25 or so groups then I was almost forced to stop playing due to heat exsuation. Also the ranger was the biggest ass on the course. Rather than helping the slow play improve he was consistantly harasing people in there carts. I don't consider being to close to the green with a cart applicable if I am 100 yard away...... Lighten up you jerk.
