I knew this course was going to be a challenge as soon as I pulled into the parking lot. I arrived early n a Saturday morning at about 7 and the weather was crisp and clear. It was a perfect day for golf. I spoke with the starter and was permitted to start off at my scheduled tee time. Although there was no driving range, the practice greens were immaculate and rolled identical to the greens on the course. The front 9 is a bit of a challenge forcing players to keep their drives and iron shots straight with little aide if you missed. When I made the turn, I noticed the back 9 was a lot more open allowing for poor shots. The course offers beverages for cheap and the sweetest young ladies driving the beverage cart around. I believe they are twins. I occasional heard a fore every now and than but thats because these fellas had a little too much to drink. I finished the round in a little under 3 hours and it was a very enjoyable morning.

Applause to the superintendent and his crew of one because with all the work that needs to be done on the course, these guys manage to get the problems solved. The greens and fairways were a lush green and rolled very true. The bunkers on each hole was perfectly raked, allowing good outs. The collars and roughs were cut enough to make a challenge. Although the yardages are a little off with the red and white markers, its part of the game. The tee boxes were in great shape except for hole nine, which floods I hear. For a public course surrounded by many high end courses in Montclair and Sussex County, this course qualifies as a test for any golfer.

I PAID $79 FOR THIS?!?!?!
This course is a disgrace. They are not accepting tee times, I was told it is "too early" in the season. They have no starter or rangers on the course. The greens and tee boxes had just been aerated - most are in poor condition. The lay out of the course is dangerous. On at least 5 occasions myself or one of my playing partners had a ball land within 10 yards of them (very rarely did anyone yell out Fore, etc!). A couple of the fairways were unplayable due to them being under water. The cart paths are in terrible condition - overall, absolutely the worst drainage I've seen on a golf course. Not to mention a number of holes are under construction. All in all a poor course in every aspect. How they have the nerve to charge $79 for a course with this many current issues is beyond laugable - as mentioend earlier it's a disgrace!

There are hazards all over the place. I played the blue tees and found the course to be challenging. We had a tee time of 6:15. I would not get out on this course late in the morning. Once you turn to the back nine you are pretty safe, but balls are flying all over the place. Nice course, but a little dangerous at times...Also, it was 90 and extremly humid out. Not an ounce of drinking water to be found on the course...

The course was recently renovated however the layout remained the same as before. We paid $75 green fees (weekend rate) to play this lousy course. The back 9 is nicer than the front 9. The course plays like a Par 3 as all the holes are too close to each other. Do yourself a favor and drive to the Sussex county courses. This track is a total waste of money.
