I played this course a lot when I was a kid. Played there on Sunday, September 24. First, to say we played at a snails pace is being generous. 3.5 hours for 9 holes. Second, they paired me with this nutcase named Ronnie who did noting but yell, curse and berate the rest of the people in the group and the foursomes in front and behind us. What an A-hole. I later found out this guy is a regular and has a reputation as a disruptive person. Yet they still let him play. What does that tell you? There is a total lack of management at this course. They take your money and than its every man for himself. My advice - play somewhere else.

First time I played this course on 7/1/07 (weird, since my girlfriend lives 5 minutes away from there.) Yes, it was a 6 hour round, but when I'm on a golf course, all is right in the world. The condition was fantastic. This course played to my strengths, except there was no beer girl out in the field. Nevertheless,a great experience, and my feelings are four-fold, my playing partners feeling the same.

The first time I went to dyker, I hit my ball onto the next fairway. When I was able to pitch it back onto my fairway, a guy with a wife-beater and jean shorts said "Hold on! Hold on!" He asked me accusingly what ball I was playing because he thought that was his ball. I said, "My initials." What a jackass! That was really the only time I encountered attitude there. I subsequently played as a single and all players were quite gracious and respectable. The pin placement is usually by the fringe, so I think this course plays more difficult than the slope & rating predicts.

My wife and I played Dyker Beach on May 4th, 2005. We went into the clubhouse on a beautiful weekday afternoon and were on the first tee 10 minutes later. $26 each for the after 1:00 p.m. rate. The fairways and rough were in great shape, especially considering the eartly spring. Better conditions than some Florida courses we played in March. Couldn't believe that we played in exactly 4 hours, and the 3 guys played blues and my wife on the front tees. The fellow we played with seemed to be a regular and he said the new Superintendent is really improving the course and it certainly shows. Even the bunker edges were all cut. Four of the toughest par 3's I've found on any course, very difficult holes. Some great holes on the course, especially 13. We put 3 balls over the fence on the 9th which is along 7th Avenue, but this is the only real sign of civilization you see. The backdrop of ther Verazano Bridge is quite striking. Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of the course, cost and pace of play. I would certainly return again as this was our second outing at Dyker Beach. Greens were just aerated and you have to expect that early in the spring.

If waiting 2 hours to tee off, & playing 18-holes in about 7 hours is your cup of tea, than Dyker is a course for you! As heavily played as it is, the course is usually in pretty decent shape, But the crowds will keep me away for good!

This is not bad for a NYC public course. It is not as nice as the nearby Marine Park but it is much shorter and a bit easier. It is very straight with no water and some sand traps. Trees do not come into play much either. The fairways are somewhat narrow and all overlap in opposite directions. This leads to errant drives sailing everywhere.

The course was in fairly decent shape all of the times I have played it. Unfortunately, the caliber of players seems to slow down the play at the course. The course has its share of difficult holes and easy holes. It is a great place to play in Brooklyn. Overall, it is an old course that is one that a person from the 5 boroughs must play at some point in time while living in New York.
