Shoots in the 90s

Just tremendous. I'd wanted to play here for years after a friend had spoken of it reverentially.
Before going, I looked into the amazing history of the place - a major Catskills resort - of the type memorialized in the film Dirty Dancing.
By the time we made it up there, it's safe to say I'd built up a pretty high level of excitement / anticipation. I could easily have been disappointed.
I just loved it. The course is very special with many high caliber holes. Picking a few highlights is quite difficult because you could really say something about every hole.
The 4th is a great par 5 - dog leg right with water all the way down the left and a pond in front of the green.
The back side might be the best of the 2 nines. The 12th (played from the back tees) is a very challenging par 4. You really need to get a bit of a draw going round the corner to get in position to even have a chance to reach the green. I felt like I played the hole well and I took a 6...
...and that's followed by the majestic 13th - Long, accurate tee shot required or else...Reaching the island green in 2 is not an option - so think you're way through the 2nd shot to get in position for a wedge.
There are other highlights throughout the course and I feel I'm not doing it justice by not going on a bit...
But as you enjoy the challenge of the course, take time to really take in the surroundings - apart from the scenic beauty, there's something else - maybe an energy from the resort's glory days that somehow lives on in the air.
The course is in tremendous shape. Green staff do a great job and the decay of the resort buildings has been meticulously kept away from the course.

Customer Service

Step into the clubhouse - maybe the last of the resort buildings still in use ? - Many of the old resort signs are here - and speak about a bygone era - "Welcome NBC Sportsworld and Barrel Jumpers"...Also have a chat with the barman - he's been here a while and will wax lyrical about the good old days.
