Interesting course. It has 36 holes-- two courses, one of which is a Jones design, I believe. My experience was a difficult one. I am a junior golfer and only hit my driver about 200 yards. There are plenty of hills and the greens are slick, but in pristine condition. From the nine holes I played on the Jones course, I'd have to say that it resembles a links course. There is a lot of tall rough like links, but the course has a few hills and blind tee shots. i'd like to go back another time when I'm hitting the ball farher.

Customer Service

Well, it's a country club, and I'm a kid, so they weren't overjoyous that I was going to play a round. Oh well. The golf pro (don't remember his name) seemed very friendly and knew what he was talking about. He fixed my hook in just four swings.

I live in Connecticut. If your ever in Hartford, swing out to Portland. This small town has three golf courses that aren't priced too badly.

Shoots in the 90s

Played both courses late May of 2005. Both courses in very nice shape considering big storm a couple of days before arrival. Some of the sand traps were washed out. I thought the service was great, sure I have had better but not at these green fees. I would recommend this facility to anyone, as long as you have a problem keeping the driver in the fairway - or in the bag.

Customer Service

Other than a crabby starter the second day it was fine.

Shoot in the 80s

There are two courses at the Malone golf club, the east and the west course. The East course is far superior to the West. Both courses are designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and therefore are well designed. The East course is very forgiving off the tee, however, the greens are guarded by well placed bunkers. The greens are quite large and undulating and play at a medium speed. The maintenance of the course is mediocre at best. The greens are somewhat inconsistent and the teeboxes are in disrepair. Given this the course is well worth the $26 green fee.
