This is a really nicely laid out golf course. That said, I can't give it too high a review for a few reasons:

1. Drainage - The course is pretty much always a swamp. If you can play 18 holes without having to take a drop from casual water, you're a better man than I. I'd like to see them do something about this, but I'm 100% positive they never will.

2. Maintenance - Way more yardage markers would be nice. But you know what would be nicer? Just HAVING readable yardage markers on all of the par-3s. This does not seem like too much to ask, but apparently it is. And in general this course just doesn't seem very well taken care of to me.

3. Crowds - In spite of the two things mentioned above, this is by far the nicest of the muni courses in Monroe County. And brother, when you play it you will know it. I don't think I've ever gotten around here in less than 5 hours. And forget about playing by yourself, because there are just too many people for that to be a courteous thing to do (and you'd end up waiting even longer between shots if you did, anyway).

All of that said, this is a nice, challenging municipal course. It's almost sneaky-difficult. Every time I play here I go home feeling like I should've shot 5 strokes lower for the way I played, but the course can get you in a lot of ways--especially with elevation changes. For that reason, it seems greedy/masochistic to suggest that to reach the layout's full potential, the course really ought to have some sand, at least on some holes. Being a Monroe County Parks golfer the past few years has really made me forget what it's like to strategize for and play out of sand.

This is a gem for a muny course. Elevated tees and greens make the course both tough and picturesque. Well placed tee shots are more important than length. Some greens are undulated and can create difficult pin placements. 18th hole was one of the toughest around as a par 4, now a par 5, is still not easy. A must play.

Customer Service

Its a county course. Service is minimal.
