the greens make this course. they are maturing, getting quicker. undulations, difficult to read. putting is a must on this course.some very difficult par 4's: 200+ yard par 3 from the tips (#11) with a green that is a nightmare to put. greenside bunkers are challenging.

par 5's are mush easier than the remainder of the course. need to be improved. a long hitter can reach 2 of them in 2. fairways need some more time to mature. moe plantings on some the holes are needed.

took some time to finish, but the wait was well worth it. the course gets mor difficult and dramatic as you proceed from the first to the last hole. some of the vistas are as good as it gets-you must see the 14th hole.

If you live in Sands Point, it is an absolute bargain when compared to other chic-chic clubs in the area. Just like them, however, just call and tell them you are coming. They'll get you on.
Great practice green, range (when they let you hit off the grass) and views from 12 and 13 of the LI Sound and Hempstead Harbor !!! (Worth joining just for that)

The former 9/18 hole with views of Manhattan, a par five where the second was a layup to 175 or a bomb down a cliff to the fairway/green was a wonderful way to finish. Too bad they could not incorporate this into the new design.

You've come a long way baby. From a nine-hole private course built by someone who was snubbed by Sands Point CC on his private estate, to IBM's country club to a local gem. They have completed the expansion to 18 holes this year and I am moderately impressed. Although only 4-5 fairways are challenging (the rest are very forgiving), EVERY green is. Complete with hidden knobs, ball placement on the green in crucial to shooting low. The first and seventeenth are drivable par fives while the eigth is a monster par 4. You should be happy with a bogey on that one.
Shot my first 79 there this year on my second round of the year... The first round was a 91 on Bethpage Black.
