National Golf Links of America or National as the locals call it, is one of the great golf courses in the USA. This is one of CB MacDonald's truly greatest masterpieces. MacDonald created one of the first courses that in 1909 opened to be to this very day one of the greatest course in the world. CB MacDonald had prior to designing this course made many trips to Scotland in order to study the greatest designs of the time and NGLA is a testament to his studies. His Redan hole, which is replicated from the original and famous "Redan" at North Berwick Golf Club in Scotland is a murderously difficult par 3 hole to hold. This is merely one of many holes that CB MacDonald replicated at NGLA. His use of the contours of the land, the vistas and the designs make a game at NGLA a truly incredible golfing experience. The course offers one of the only a true links golfing experiences that I have had in the U.S.. I hope that I can get back again soon.
