Good layout in a valley. Very pleasant surrounding area. Greens slow but plenty of smooth grass. Fairways lush. Slow play is the only problem. At least 5 hour round. No marshalls

While Mt. Mitchell GC is in the Blue Ridge Mountains, it is a relatively flat course surrounded by peaks. 3 or 4 holes with interesting elevation change, but mostly flat, very few up/downhill lies and no fairway side hill shots.

Played twice from the blues at 6495. Bent grass from tee box to green. Rough is long and grows 360 degrees. A real club grabber. Fairways are tree lined, numerous doglegs, only one lake but river comes into play on a couple of holes.

Condition and upkeep is outstanding. Be aware.....this is partially do to a Cart Path Only Policy ALL OF THE TIME. Even the maintenance vehicles, except mowers, travel only on the cart paths.

The Cart Path Only Policy makes for long rounds. 5 to 5.5 hour round was the norm weekdays. Probably longer on weekends.

However, if you have to wait at the tee box, the scenery makes it tolerable. A beautiful layout.
