I'll confirm what newgolfer312 mentioned earlier, the 'management' working the pro shop is reason enough to find somewhere else to play. Utley Sr. and Jr. created a nice layout when they designed this course, however it's a shame their son is ruining what could be a fun round of golf. I'd think seriously before enrolling anyone in their "Junior Golf Clinic". I'd hate to see young golfers exposed to such poor personal etiquette.

Model Reviewed: Lakeshore Golf Course

I am not a great golfer; I enjoy playing, though. So during my lunch break I sometimes go find a driving range and hit a bucket. Let's just say I won't be going to that range again. It's wicked cheap though, so for a cheap game, their course might be okay. But don't apy to hit their floater balls into the lake. Go hit your own balls into a barn or someting. The range was very poorly equipped, and in great need of updating and in many cases, repair. The course itself didn't look to be in good condition either.

Customer Service

Pretty good.

My friend and I are beginning golfers. We recently played 18 holes on the course. I played the best round of golf I've ever played. I only had one ball go out of bounds and shot a lot of double bogeys. We let one group of golfers play through as they were catching up to us. In total, we took about 4.5 hours to play 18 holes. What ruined the experience was after we completed our round, one of the employees was waiting for us at the clubhouse to tell us it was totally unacceptable that we took too long. I felt he implied we were not good enough to play on their course. Guess I won't be going back there again.

This course is in my backyard and while having a course that close is a good thing, I wish they would better the course just a tad. I will give the boys credit for trying to add some badly needed length on a few holes (course doesn't even come close to 6000 yds from the tips) and for keeping the course in decent shape considering the huge amount of play they get during the week from their leagues. The course's location in the heart of RTP is the biggest upside. The downside is that the course is way overpriced for its condition and layout. Rack rate for weekends is $34 and twilight rates don't kick in until 4pm during the spring/summer ($22). If you are beginner or don't have a lot of length off the tee then it can be a great course to play to give the ego a little boost (I even broke 80 twice there), but for anyone under a 15 handicap, spend your money elsewhere.

Customer Service

average (I used to play there 2x/week and none of the guys told me about a $5 coupon that was in a magazine right by the door)

Not the nicest course in the area (not even close actually), but it tends to be an enjoyable, relaxed round of golf. It''s also pretty cheap and usually not very crowded. Not a particularly long or challenging course (just the way I like them) but decent for the price.
