Shoots in the 80s

Etowah Valley seems to be well past it's prime. Our group has frequented for years and enjoyed in the past but things have gone down hill. Loved seeing the same old friendly faces year after year but a recent, and rather large change in staff has, in my opinion, permanently damaged the overall enjoyability of this resort. After hearing from the local members' take on these sudden changes we've decided to spend our money elsewhere simply because we don't want to contribute to a company with no regard to the recently removed staff that made our stays so wonderful in the past, and after hearing of the way so many had been treated and replaced with what seems to be a much less friendly and knowlegable bunch. We came for the golf initially but fell in love with the people and other ammenities but would not recommend Etowah Valley these days, simply on priniple, which the upper management obviously has none, principles that is, morals, standards, loyalty, and brains for that matter. There are way too many excellent golf resorts in wnc to be contributing financially to the business practices of the Etowah Valley Country Club.

I'm local, but have played a lot of resort golf. If you are ALREADY planning to travel to the Hendersonville/Asheville region and don't want to put up bank to stay/play at Grove Park, then Etowah is a reasonable decision. The courses are nothing special. The views aren't nearly as nice as some other area courses (Cherokee Valley--South Carolina, Reems Creek--NC, Cummings Cove--NC, etc.). However, as far as stay and play packages are concerned, they offer great rates. Don't stay here primarily for the golf. Locals (such as myself) find it to be a descent deal, nothing to keep me coming back though. I'd rather play any of the aforementioned courses for around the same price or less. Overall, sort of bland.

Customer Service

Totally disagree with the last users comment: driving range is horrible, good putting green, mediocre short game area.

played all three courses in early march. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. three distinctly different nines which were challenging but fair. The north course has the most elevation change with some scenic views. All around a very enjoyable experience.

A mountain resort course, the 3 nine hole layouts can be played by scratch and beginner alike. Set in a relatively flat area near Hendersonville, NC, Etowah is well-designed and makes for an enjoyable yet challenging experience. The maintenance and condition of the course is very good; with many resorts charging $70+ in green/cart fees, Etowah is an especially good value for around $50.
