Classy setup, excellent greens and fairways.

Too many holes look exactly like each other. Rough is overpunishing and leads to lost balls and slow play.

Forest Oaks hosts the Greeter Greensboro Chrysler Classic every year. Befitting a PGA venue, this is a classy, if quirky and somewhat outdated, course. The clubhouse, amenities and course design are all dated. Almost every green is elevated, with a narrow opening in the middle flanked by deep bunkers. The rough can be punishing, especially during the summer. You will lose some balls here. Penalty for missing the fairway is severe. Greens are fast and contoured. Putting is a heck of a challenge. Not cheap, but one of the more affordable and playable PGA Tour venues.
