Shoots in the 80s

I started playing this course because it used to be so much better than Hillendale in Durham. At the time, greens were faster, and the overall layout is much more interesting. My high opinion has changed somewhat. Some of the holes have greens that are virtually impossible to control. First, some of the greens have undulations which are near impossible to read. In addition, there are some ridiculous downhill pin placements on several holes. Inconstent speed on the greens is another problem. The fairways tend to be dry and at least during early spring that means hitting a lot of shots out of tight lies (you might prefer the rough!!) At any rate, the O is still somewhat of a bargain. For about 20 bucks, you get a pictoresque surrounding and quite a few of the holes have interesting layouts. For example, number 4 has a water hazzard (they come into play on a number of holes) some 250 yards (rough estimate) off the back t's and plays pretty tight. You want to keep it short of that or play it to the right of the water. Most people get psyched, and a missed drive is typically into the tight forest on the right. THAT put you in a much worse position than being in the water.

Customer Service

They're a far cry from "yes sir", "thank you mam", however, they're not as bad as the last review here suggested.

Shoots in the 80s

I haven't played this course in several years so I'm not sure if the same people are there, but I quit playing there b/c the clubhouse staff was never friendly and always acting like they were doing you a favor by letting you play there. I could stomach that at a nice course, but this a slightly below average track. It is a good walker's course, though, and a good place to start your golf habit.

Customer Service

As I mentioned before, if the old staff is still there, then don't expect open arms.

Shoots in the 80s

This is my "home" course so I may be a bit biased. This is a very sound design that grows on you the more you play it. The tree lined fairways vary from tight to runway width demanding a mix of iron and wood play off the tee. Elevation changes add difficulty to approach shots and seem to add length to a course that measures 6200 yards. Overall a great value and the ongoing renovations are making it that much better.

Customer Service

Staff always eager to assist. Rangers could do more to get groups through 1st four holes on schedule.

Shoot in the 90s

Inexpensive, mostly flat, walkable course in a rural setting. Water comes into play on about half the holes. Greens are mostly flat and medium speed. Maintainence is good, gets a lot of rounds. Not much sand and no fairway bunkers. Because it doesn't brutalize high handicappers it gets alot of beginner play. Pace can suffer. A good course to work on your game between trips to high-end daily fee courses. Management has invested alot of time improving the course.

Customer Service

Good, inexpensive pro - helped my game alot.
